Solutions Architect / Technical Writer

Pernix Consulting, LLC is looking for a Solutions Architect / Technical Writer to support our internal Business Development and Proposal Department.  This position will work very closely with Pernix’s Leadership Team, Proposal Coordinator and Business Development Leads. This role may can be in-office in Reston, VA, or work remotely.

Pernix is looking for a Technical Writer who understands complex cloud computing topics and concepts on a Solutions Architect level and who can take those topics and concepts and turn them into compelling narratives. This role will be largely responsible for working closely with the BD and Proposal Teams to develop technical content for proposals, RFIs and RFPs.  This person will deliver high-quality, well-organized thought-leadership content that is technical, but still accessible to a non-developer, tech savvy audience.


  • Serve as the primary writer, editor, and strategist for technical content of proposals, RFIs, RFEs and other Pernix content
  • Collaborate with Pernix BD and Proposal Team to develop scope and priorities
  • Author, plan, develop, organize, write, and edit complex IT network survey, migration, design and implementation procedures and plans to explain technical workflows
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical content
  • Understand project task-linked dependencies
  • Ability to review Requests for Information (RFIs), Sources Sought Notices (SSNs), Requests for Proposals (RFPS) and providing technical guidance, input, and written responses for winning solutions
  • Create DevSecOps models, Application Designs, Cloud Formation architectures, and related items in support of IT efforts pertaining to Federal programs


  • 5 - 10 years of technical experience as a Software Developer or Solutions Architect and 2 years of technical writing experience
  • Experience working in government contracting
  • Ability to write complex technical solutions in an easy-to-read, easy-to-follow, audience-focused is a MUST
  • Ability to comprehend a broad range of technical concepts; ideally having worked in hands-on developer or engineer positions
  • Experience working in a technical environment providing IT services across multiple areas: application development, cybersecurity, data analytics, DevSecOps
  • Experience in developing staffing plans for RFIs, SSNs, and RFPs
  • Experience leading documentation, software design, software development technical documents, development of presentations for customers
  • Highly organized self-starter who excels with limited direction
  • Highly reliable, ensuring deliverables are achieved within appropriate time frames
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
